How to Save Facebook Story Photos and Videos

Facebook stories can be photos, videos, or reposted media. A good story workflow identifies the media type before showing a download button.

Resolve the story before choosing output

Copy the story link while it is still live, then paste it into a story-aware downloader.

Wait for the preview. If the story is a photo, save the image. If it is a video, save the video file.

Story URLs are more fragile than post URLs, so a second tool can be useful for public stories that one resolver misses.

Once the story expires or becomes private, switching tools usually will not fix it.

A photo story should produce an image download. A video story should produce a playable video file when Facebook exposes it.

If only a thumbnail is available, the story media itself may not be public to the downloader.

Do the download while the story is visible. Waiting until later is the most common reason story downloads fail.

For reposting or reuse, get permission from the person who posted the story.
