Facebook stories are temporary, so the first step is timing. If the story expires, becomes private, or requires a session that the public page cannot expose, a downloader usually cannot recover it.
Copy the story link while it is live
Open the story and copy its link before it disappears. Do not copy the profile URL if you need the specific story media.
Paste the story URL into a downloader that understands story links, not just regular video posts.

Start with a story-specific page. Stories can behave differently from videos and reels because the public URL may contain encoded story identifiers.
If none of these tools resolve the story, it may already be expired, private, or visible only inside your Facebook session.
Save the right output
Some stories are videos and some are photos. Save the file type the preview actually finds instead of assuming every story should become an MP4.
If a story has no downloadable media, the page should say so instead of pretending a broken button will work.
